As an athlete she competed on the Canadian gymnastics team for 5 years in high school, before an injury forced her to retire just prior to the 1988 Olympics. She then took up springboard diving and competed nationally in that sport for an additional four years. Then she went on to a career as an acrobat in the Cirque du Soleil and performed in "Mystere" in Las Vegas for 2 years before attending medical school. She continued to perform for the Cirque du Soleil part time while pursuing her medical career. Presently she provides medical care for a wide variety of recreational and professional athletes including the Cirque du Soleil, San Francisco Ballet School and other performing artists.
While she has had extensive experience treating elite athletes and performing artists, she also enjoys taking care of recreational athletes. She enjoys athletic injuries and related issues in all age groups, including medical conditions such as exercise-induced bronchoconstriction, doping issues/testing, counseling, eating disorders as well as injury management and prevention.
